Today it was time for another country – Germany! It was only a short drive to Munich. We were there by about 10.30am. The Glockenspiel in Marienplatz didn’t start till 11.15am or something like that, so we went and had a look at a church nearby. It is alleged that the Devils footprint can be seen inside but we could not find it. At the time Mass was being held so we could not go all the way in. But supposedly it was right where we were standing anyway.

Went back to Marienplatz and stood around to watch the big cuckoo clock do its thing. We were told that we had to wait for the rooster at the end as that was the best bit. We waited and watched, and waited and waited. The tune being belted out on the bells sounded like it was being whacked by a deaf midget. Biggest load of crap ever. But still we waited for the rooster. Finally about an hour later (well it seemed like an hour) the rooster made a pathetic attempt at flapping its wings and crowing like it had Alzheimer's. We quickly left in protest and decided to go to the Deutchmuseum which supposedly had this Bodyworks exhibition (displays of dead people – woohoo!!)

For some reason the group we were in were split up. Katie and I went one way, she had the map and said the others were going the wrong way. We got very lost. I grabbed the map, turned it the right way up and we were soon on our way in the right direction. We got there to find some of the others waiting out the front. The Bodyworks thing wasn’t on so the had not gone in. Katie and I went in to see if we could find Narelle and Shaughn but they weren’t in there. We walked back into town and had lunch at Macca’s. Some of the others were already in there so we sat with them. They left later on to go have a look at the Church. It was just us and Dan left. Dan decided to teach us Chinese and wrote out our names in Chinese too. That passed the time until we had to go back to the bus. It was so bloody cold but I found a patch of sun to sit in. We still had not found Narelle or Shaughn but when the bus came they were already on it.

We were now finally on our way to the hotel. This was our first hotel on the trip and we were impressed. Nice rooms with TV and more importantly bath mats!! The little necessities we miss. That night we went to the Hacker Pschorr beer hall. Luckily I stole their coasters otherwise I wouldn’t remember what it was called. Our litre steins came out first. The beer actually tasted good! One of the Matts from our table was first to finish his. Then Phillipa was the first girl. I was proud even though I was the second girl to finish heh. For dinner I had Cordon Bleu. It was pretty crap, just a thing of chicken with a piece of bacon with cheese melted on top. But at least it came with chips. The pork knuckles looked good though.

By now a lot were onto their second steins or wines. We started playing a game called “Make Dan Skoll Everything You Give Him”. It was very amusing. We first gave him about ¼ of a stein, he skolled it. Then about ½ glass of wine. He skolled it. This went on with various drinks until we ran out. Great game all the same.

Then came the bus ride home. Greatest bus ride ever! Everyone was in a psycho party mood, dancing in their seats, dancing/falling in the aisles and lots of photos. Jon decided to lock Dan in the toilet which did not go down well and Dan kicked him in the head when he got out.

We were hoping to continue the party back at the hotel bar but there was no music! Most of us sat around anyway with another huge stein. But the good thing about it was that you could keep this stein!! The beer tasted like shit but I drank it anyway. I finished mine before everyone else and made it known. By this stage I was also completely trashed but thankfully so were most of the others. We eventually went to bed. Adam had to show me to my room as I forgot where it was hehehe.

But now what to do with those huge steins!!?

Again snowing this morning. It started just after we left the Dachau Concentration Camp. That itself was really interesting. Hard to fathom what went on there. But I’m glad we got the chance to go have a look.

From there we drove back through Austria and then had a quick stop in Liechtenstein where we got our passports stamped for SF2 (now spending in Swiss Francs). Not a lot to do there but we got to stock up on munchies at the supermarket.

On to Switzerland!
